If you are not currently a history buff, now is your chance to become one on your next vacation to San Diego! What better way to start off than with a head full of history on beautiful San Diego from the San Diego History Center itself.

Located in the heart of San Diego, Balboa Park is the San Diego History Center. Quite arguably one of the most important places in all of San Diego, the San Diego History Center displays the region’s colorful and diverse history with a unique flair of exhibits, artifacts, textiles, costumes, and art, with old and new photographs detailing the development of the local area and exploring the lives of native San Diegans.

This museum features its own library and Booth Historical Archives which entail over 4.5 million pieces of paper and nearly 2.5 million photographs which make it one of the largest photographic collections in the western United States. This extensive display of local historical knowledge, resources, maps, architectural drawings, oral history, books, and housing documents makes this museum project to the top of your list on your travel to San Diego.

In addition to all of the exhibits presented by the museum, the San Diego History Center also provides workshops, lectures and educational programs to the general public of San Diego and its visitors in hopes of promoting educational growth to America’s Finest City.

For just six dollars adult admission, and free to children under six years old, the San Diego History Center is an activity the whole family can enjoy on your next vacation to San Diego.

You can find lodging in San Diego, some of the best restaurants and other things to do in the area here.
