  • The Carson Valley Arts Council proudly presents local artists Tamia de Luna and Mechele Johnson’s art exhibit, May 8, at the Copeland Gallery in Minden. The show runs May 8 through July 1, 2018.

Tamia and Mechele’s reception is Friday, May 11 from 5 to 7 pm at the Copeland Gallery. Come and meet the artists and preview their amazing work.

    TAMIA DE LUNA

Tamia de Luna will be displaying her mixed media artwork. The showing will include hand carved walking sticks, pottery, hand carved gourds and a colorful array of contemporary paintings. Some select pieces will be available for purchase.

In the words of Tamia de Luna, “The world is more beautiful because creating art makes me happy. I enjoy the natural universe that surrounds us all. My sight, touch and hearing senses become acute while working on a piece as it evolves and I grow with its completion. I get positive feedback from myself and others with my finished works. It is totally easy to lose one’s self in the creative process. I like to think of my art as recognizable, unique and original. Thank you for helping me to share a part of myself with you.”

    MECHELE JOHNSON

Mechele Johnson is a Michigan born watercolorist. As a member of the Nevada Artists Association, the Carson Valley Art Association, and the East Fork Gallery in Gardnerville, Michele’s colorful landscape paintings have been displayed throughout Northern Nevada, California, Arizona and even Virginia. Her artistic talents with painting colorful landscapes, old buildings, flowers and nature truly bring beauty “to the eyes of the beholder.”Her work will be available for purchase.

Mechele has been drawing since she could first hold a pencil. Encouraged to pursue her artistic talents by her father at age 13, Michele entered a National Contest sponsored by Walt Disney Studios and took the grand prize. She has taken and given a number of water color classes over the years, continually picking up new techniques from her fellow artists. Since moving to Nevada from Southern California in 1994, Mechele says she was truly won over by Northern Nevada’s surrounding beauty and breathtaking surroundings.
