The Grand Sierra Resort is excited to welcome Hozier of “Take Me to Church” fame in this one night only Reno concert on October 22, 2015.
Andrew Hozier-Byrne was born in Ireland in Bray, County Wicklow on St. Patrick’s Day. He is the son of an Irish blues musician and joined his first band when he was 15 years old. He taught himself to play the guitar and piano and briefly attended Trinty College to study music. Preferring to make music versus the four years of education that lay ahead, Hozier dropped out and focused on his talent and the creative process.
He says (in a quote from his Facebook page): “Listen to any song, from any era and you’re looking through a keyhole into the artist’s world as seen through their eyes. Art is, in its simplest form, the reproduction of the world around us. All artists reproduce their vision of the world and in doing so create a document that reflects the times they live in.”
Hozier spent time in his studio – a simple set-up in the attic – where he could forge his own genre and musical identity. He plays what he calls Twenty First Century Blues – despite eternal themes the songs reflect the modern world and the ever changing shift in politics.
Come spend an unforgettable night while this artist strums and sings a medley of poetic evocations and emotional discourse. His variant of soul, blues and jazz is sure to awaken your poetic side.
Doors open at 7pm
Show starts at 8pm
