Reno Art Fest 2018 celebrates local and regional artists in downtown Reno with an outdoor, open-air art market, family-friendly entertainment, a beer garden, local food trucks, and weekend packed with activities.
Artech and CWB Events, with the support of generous community donors including Circus Circus Hotel Casino Reno, The City of Reno, Reno Tahoe and Sierra Arts Foundation will present a group of more than 40 talented local and regional artists to present their art for sale at the second annual Reno Art Fest event. The relocated event combines an art sale with two days of celebrating the arts on north Virginia between 4th and 6th Streets.
“There will be an amazing collection of artists with incredible work for sale,” said Maria Partridge, Project Manager of the Reno Art Fest, “We’re excited to present an even bigger event venue filled with free interactive activities for the entire family to enjoy!”
Circus Circus will once again present its 24-Hour Mural Marathon. The competitors will have only 24 hours to paint an original mural in panel 19’7” feet wide by 14 feet high. The artists will compete for prize money, $3,000 to the first place winner, $2,000 to the second place winner and $1000 to the third place winner. Each artist will also receive a $750 stipend to pay for paint and materials in order to complete the murals. The winners will be selected by a separate panel of judges to be determined. This is a permanent art installation on the side of the Circus building. The murals (seven in total from seven different artists) will face Virginia Street in the heart of the Arch District in Downtown Reno, a busy intersection for motorists and travelers.
Saturday’s events include northern Nevada favorites Controlled Burn as they present Fire Fest 2018 – a flaming hot show of stilt walkers, dancers, drummers and a variety of fire performers. Art cars with fire effects will also be on hand to heat up the summer night.
A special CR8TIV ZONE will provide art supplies and activities for kids of all ages. Hula hoops, balloons, face painting, puppets and interactive art projects will be on hand for the entire family to enjoy.
And to cap it off, the public will join us for a fun night of food, beer and dancing as we celebrate the arts during our Sunday celebration finale. Join the crowd at 6pm as they march down the street to officially kick-off Artown 2018 in Wingfield Park!
