More is often better, especially of a good thing. This year, lovers of creative, local cuisine have good reason to celebrate as the 7th annual Reno Bites restaurant week expands to two full weeks for the first time, Oct. 8-21, 2018. An extended event is complemented by a modified format and newly overhauled website.
For six years, Reno Bites has regaled local restaurants, chefs and restaurateurs with a weeklong event created to showcase them. Each eatery participating in Reno Bites offers a $10, $20 or $30 dining special at their establishment during the event, while customers can also order off of their existing menu. Some signature events also take place during the restaurant week, which was designed to help area residents and visitors alike discover new establishments to try or be reminded of longtime favorites. Often driven by the value proposition, guests get to experience the ambiance, service and dishes within each restaurant during Reno Bites, versus tasting a chef’s fare at off-site culinary events.
New for 2018, both culinary connoisseurs and curious explorers will have a longer duration in which to taste the offerings at dozens of locally owned Reno restaurants. With an ever-expanding area culinary scene, demand drove the decision to expand Reno Bites’ single week into two. Organizers received frequent requests over the years to extend the event duration, so guests could have more time to try the specials and visit multiple restaurants involved.
“We asked both the restaurants and people participating in Reno Bites to take a post-event survey last year, and the results confirmed feedback we’d been hearing for quite a while,” shares Chef Clint Jolly, co-founder of Reno Bites restaurant week. “Guests wanted a longer span of time to enjoy the participating restaurants, and a more user-friendly website. To fulfill wishes of some restaurateurs, we are leaving more nights open during the weeks for guests to visit their favorite restaurants and hosting just a few key events focused on collaboration of chefs and restaurants. So, we tried to give everyone what they asked for this year!”
Signature events this year will be the Reno Bites Kickoff, and the popular Walkabite and Chef Showdown events. A redesigned Renobitesweek.com includes a fresh layout site-wide; a newly structured, easily searchable restaurants page; a frequently-asked-questions page, a streamlined online sign-up page for restaurants and a video and simple tutorial on “How to Do Bites” for those interested in taking part. New marketing efforts will also supplement the website and be revealed as the event draws closer.
Reno Bites restaurant week is currently in the process of signing up restaurants and sponsors for year number seven, with the full schedule to be launched in September.
