I do, however, enjoy beautiful views, relaxing atmospheres, craft cocktails and seasonal menus. So, if I am at a golf course, you’ll find me at the so-called 19th hole.
With more than 50 courses in the Reno/Tahoe region, there are plenty of clubhouses to wind down at after a round or a long day at the office. Here are some of my favorites:
Edgewood Tahoe in Stateline, Nev., offers the perfect place to take in views of Lake Tahoe while enjoying a full meal or just a snack. For a fine dining experience with an ambiance made for memories, check out Edgewood Restaurant and its stunning floor-to-ceiling windows. If you’re in a more casual mood, order the mango mojito at Brooks’ Bar & Deck. Bonus points for sipping it next to the outdoor fire pit while watching the sunset over the lake. edgewoodtahoe.com
A local favorite with deals to match, the Carson Valley Country Club’s restaurant in Gardnerville offers an inviting and family oriented atmosphere. Enjoy a true Nevada treat with the restaurant’s Basque-style dining. Don’t forget to order the state’s unofficial drink: the Picon Punch. carsonvalleycountryclub.com
Perched atop the Championship Golf Course in Incline Village, The Grille at the Chateau offers views of the 18th green, mountains, trees and Lake Tahoe. Check out this restaurant for lunch or happy hour, which features daily cocktail specials. yourtahoeplace.com
PJ’s at Gray’s Crossing Truckee boasts “casual cuisine with a side of panoramic views.” While you’re taking in those views, sip on one of the restaurant’s signature cocktails, such as the chipotle margarita or blackberry mojito. Or, dine off the restaurant’s seasonal menu featuring regional ingredients. golfintahoe.com
Take in stunning views of Mt. Tallac and the Sierra Mountain Range in Lake Tahoe Golf Course’s charming clubhouse. Located in a meadow a few minutes south of Tahoe’s southern shoreline, the space is decorated with lovely mountain touches and includes a full-service restaurant and cocktail bar. laketahoegc.com
Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and a cocktail at the clubhouse at Red Hawk Golf and Resort in the Spanish Springs Valley. This summer, you can also take in a treat for the ears with a concert every Friday and Saturday at David’s Grill. Snag a seat on the patio to dine with a view of the course’s 18th hole. redhawkgolfandresort.com
Surround yourself with towering mountains and endless greens with a meal at Toiyabe Golf Club, located at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Washoe Valley. For a weekend romp, check out the restaurant’s brunch menu served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sundays. Can you say bottomless mimosas? toiyabegolfclub.com
Now, I’m about to go tee up … for a cocktail of course.
