Torrey Pines State Beach offers everything needed for an outdoor adventure. There are several different hiking trails to take in the San Diego area, but this is our favorite one. You can start your hike with a nice walk along the sand if you park far from the cliff.
You’ll probably pass by moms watching their kids run around and splash in the water and couples running or walking the entire three mile round trip stretch. Once you reach the stairs at the end of the beach, you can make your way up and around the entire cliff.
Along the way there are so many places to stop, take pictures, and enjoy the view of the vast and never ending Pacific Ocean. Before making your way down the hill, there is a small museum and gift shop. They have displays that tell the history of the area and of the actual Torrey Pine tree.
You’ll also want to look out for the skeleton right outside the gift shop back door; it’s pretty big! When you start walking down the hill, there’s just one more little trail along the way, called Guy Fleming Trail, which gives you the best view and the best spot to take one last photo of the ocean. When you finally reach the bottom of the cliff, you’ll feel so accomplished from the amazing hike, fantastic view, and picture-perfect setting. Enjoy!
