Spring into these Reno/Tahoe events. From beer festivals, Mother’s and Father’s day celebrations, America’s birthday, celebrity golf and more, here’s a list of my favorite events you should mark on your calendar!

May 5: Cinco De Mayo

Fiesta! Fiesta! Celebrate Cinco de Mayo eating, drinking and dancing in Reno/Tahoe. El Jefe’s Cantina in the Circus Circus Reno Hotel and Casino has a great atmosphere and their menu is absolutely delicious! Then head to South Lake Tahoe to dance the night away at Cabo Wabo inside Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. They have live music, great drinks specials and authentic Mexican food!;

May 12 – 13: Mother’s Day Weekend

Treat your mom to a special Mother’s Day train ride with V&T Railroad. Every mom receives a long-stemmed red rose. There are many spectacular sceneries and a day with the family makes for a memorable celebration for Mother’s Day.

Shop ‘til you drop

Shopping is always a fun adventure, especially while enjoying the beautiful outdoors. The Village Center in South Lake Tahoe has a variety of unique shops that mom will love! There is also the Riverwalk District along the Truckee River and the Midtown District in Reno with an assortment of shops. Eat, shop, relax and indulge with your mom for her special day.;;

Dining on the water

Dine on the water this Mother’s Day! Enjoy brunch on the river at Wild River Grille in Reno. They have a large patio and great service. Or pull up a seat at one of Edgewood Tahoe’s restaurants, they have an absolutely beautiful view of the lake. Since it’s Mother’s Day weekend, I suggest making a reservation at either restaurant.;

Plan a getaway weekend to Carson Valley to enjoy some fishing with dad for Father’s Day. There are guided tours that will make your trip much more successful! Not only will you learn from the best, they will teach you the proper way to fish in these lakes and rivers. Or if lake fishing is more your style, “get hooked” with Tahoe Sportfishing Co. Their experienced captains will guide you to the hot spots on Lake Tahoe. Depending on the season, you can catch mackinaw, rainbow trout, brown trout and kokanee salmon.;
