Belle Meade Plantation is a 30 acre historic site 6 miles west of Nashville. The centerpiece of the property is the Belle Meade mansion built in 1853. This Greek revival house was home to five generations of the Harding-Jackson family, original owners of the Belle Meade Farm. In the late 19th century, the farm encompassed 5,400 acres and was one of the largest private estates in Nashville and was a thoroughbred nursery famous for breeding and training championship race horses.
The Mission Statement of Belle Meade Plantation reads: “To preserve and interpret the historical value of Belle Meade Plantation and to educate the public about its significance in American culture.”
The Winery at Belle Meade Plantation is Tennessee’s newest winery and Nashville’s only winery to date! The restaurant at Belle Meade serves lunch daily and they have a fantastic gift shop which includes unique, one-of-a-kind gifts and souvenirs.
