FOLK Brewing Kombucha – Lake Tahoe

Sip on This

Keeping up with the kombucha trends, FOLK Brewing Co. has eight original flavors plus ten seasonal tastes of this authentically slowbrewed, single-batch deliciousness with water sourced from Lake Tahoe. Using only certified organic ingredients and whole foods, you can cheers to this “champagne of life,” on tap at a slew of locations around the basin. The craft beer scene continues to gain momentum in Reno. Head brewer, Ryan Gaumer, opened Lead Dog Brewing Co. in Reno’s Brewery District off Fourth Street. The brewery is built on a 15-barrel system and features 13 taps with room to grow. Savor in the rustic elegance, belly up to the bar on a barrel stool, sip a seasonal favorite like the Chocolate Hazelnut Brown Ale, and meet their dog, Roxy.;

Bucket List Bites

Here’s why these foodie finds are all the latest buzz on the streets. In Reno, the east coast style at Morgan’s Lobster Shack & Fish Market is a wicked hit. With two locations, step up to the famed Oyster Bar for fresh fish flown in almost daily and take down some lobster rolls, fried clams, and haddock. Remember to save room for the new colossal custom homemade ice cream sandwiches found at The Baked Bear with locations in Sparks, Reno and South Lake Tahoe. The hot-pressed donut will leave you saying OMG. It’s a cut fresh doughnut topped with signature bear batter ice cream, blanketed in rainbow sprinkles, then warmed, and finished with an icing drizzle!;

Get A Rush

“Hips, hips, banana, banana,” was the phrase repeating through my head. Those were the words of my tandem master with Skydive Truckee Tahoe, a description of your body form after jumping from the plane into a freefall. This experience TOPS the charts for me, all while getting the most epic views of the Sierra. A tip, add on the video and photo package, it’s so worth it! Season starts May through October. For those looking to master their American Ninja Warrior skills, visit Fly High Trampoline Park in Reno. This is a jumper’s haven with wall-to-wall trampolines, foam pits, designated dodgeball courts, and nail that slam dunk at almost any age with trampoline basketball!;

Fresh Flavors

Add these tasty finds to your dining adventures in Reno/Tahoe. Southern barbeque has never been so close to the West Coast. Ten Crows, located inside Hotel Becket in South Lake, is sizzling things up with their Alabama-style fire-pit smoker. No need for a wet wipe, you’ll lick every finger to savor their signature white barbeque sauce. For something fun, order the Heavenly happy meal, an adult twist with your choice of gourmet sandwich, Pabst Blue Ribbon, a shot of Jameson, and a toy! You’ve got to try their bloody mary too, complete with all the fixings and a chicken wing garnish! At Alpine Union inside Hardrock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe, the Tahoe mountain lifestyle is theme for this rebranded joint. I love the variety from Thai chicken lettuce wraps to their signature appetizer, shred the cheese, a chef’s daily selection cheese fondue. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch on weekends, there’s something for everyone to scarf down. For a lighter twist on comfort food, Roundabout Grill inside Whitney Peak Hotel is giving a healthier alternative with a gourmet twist. Order their spaghetti squash with turkey meatballs or grilled Atlantic salmon with roasted pepper coulis. Save room for happy hour, Monday through Friday from 4 – 6 p.m. to enjoy craft cocktails and 25-percent off all small plates. @Xcrowsbbqrestaurant;;
