  • Are you a nature lover?  Looking for something fun to do away from the noise of the city?  Check out Mission Trails Regional Park!  When you’re visiting San Diego, what to do with the family or just for fun is only a short drive away.

The Mission Trails Regional Park covers nearly 5,800 acres of rugged hills, deep valleys, and wide open spaces that represent a historic time in San Diego.  The park is only a few miles northeast of the bustling city of San Diego and gives you a chance to experience the beautiful, natural setting of this area.

Considered one of the three “jewels in the city” of the San Diego Park System, it provides a way for you to explore the cultural, historical, and recreational characteristics of San Diego.  Founded in 1974, the park has become a popular place to visit by locals and tourists alike.

You’ll find over forty miles of trails to walk, along with boating on Lake Murray and camping at Kumeyaay Lake.  You can also hike numerous trails and visit the state-of-the-art Visitor & Interpretive Center to learn about the history of this beautiful park.

The park also offers numerous events, a nature study, camping, and so much more!  At the northeast end of Father Junipero Serra Trail you’ll find the Old Mission Dam, a nationally registered historic landmark and starting point for many of the area hikes. This area is perfect if you want to bird watch or just relax!

When you’re in San Diego, what to do for relaxation is as simple as a short drive to Mission Trails Regional Park.  You’ll enjoy beautiful views, awe-inspiring nature trails, and a chance to get back to nature!
