Sipping at Sundown on the Largest Alpine Lake in North America

A cruise with Zephyr Cove Resort’s Lake Tahoe Cruises and Tahoe Paradise Yacht

I was really excited to board the Tahoe Paradise Yacht because it was only my second time on a boat in Lake Tahoe. I enjoyed my first boat trip here about four years ago and couldn’t wait to do it again. I’ve always been fond of boats, admiring lakes and meeting people and the sunset cruise was the perfect combination. I also feel like everyone here is as impressed by Tahoe’s amazing sunsets as I am, being on a boat just makes for an even more pleasant sunset.

My friend and I arrived at 6 p.m. Since we were a little early, we sat on the dock and took in the lake. The boat left Zephyr Cove at 6:30 p.m. We were curious to explore the watercraft with its charming main floor interior featuring a counter, tables and  chairs including an open area in front of the boat. Then we headed to the boat’s first floor where we discovered a roomy, open space and a closed space where Patrick Walsh performed, setting the perfect ambience for the excursion.

For those who are of age, you can enjoy complimentary champagne offered by the friendly and welcoming staff when boarding the Tahoe Paradise Yacht. We enjoyed many great appetizers including cheese, olives, crackers, ham, vegetable canapés, beef brochettes, and more. I enjoyed the fact there was something for everyone. We were then treated to strawberry cake — a culinary highlight for me coupled with the sun setting.

This boat is an excellent place to celebrate birthdays, have special events or simply cruise with friends after a nice day in Tahoe. After eating and mingling, we decided to take in some lovely views while listening to live music. We looped around the lake, a great way to visit some incredible must-see places, my favorites being the iconic Cave Rock and Emerald Bay.

The ambience was fantastic with people dancing at dusk as the sun reflected on the lake under an orange and pink sky — a breath-taking experience.  We cruised back to Zephyr Cove Resort, the air was crisp and refreshing as the sun slipped away behind the mountains.  Our little trip was coming to an end, but the experience was a delight I won’t soon forget.

If you are ready to capture one of the most amazing sunsets in the Sierra, catch a ride on Tahoe’s Paradise Yacht with friends, family or on a date. It is an experience that shouldn’t be missed in Lake Tahoe and a relaxing moment during the weekend.

Lake Tahoe Cruises will offer this intimate sunset cruise including a special cocktail and wine menu every Saturday evening this summer. For more information about the cruise, call 1.800.23.TAHOE or visit zephyrcove.com
